THE WOODEN SPIKE

I'm afraid that news is still awaited regarding Sam's fate. I have a number of projects that have taken my eyes off him for the time being.

Meanwhile, my friend and brilliant artist Sherwin has recently drawn an illustration for one of my older stories, one that hasn't appeared on this blog before. He was gripped by a sudden urge and the result is here for us to enjoy. Long may his urges continue, I say. But it only seems fair in the circumstances to offer you the story to read for yourselves. It is in four parts but I have posted them all in one go to save time and suspense.

I should warn you that there is a lot of pain and suffering in this story (which was inspired by another drawing,  "Open For Business" by Mike Carcel - below right) which may not suit everyone's taste and is a little more intense than usual for my stories.

Sherwin's illustration (above left) is set against the events at the end of Part 4.

All four parts are in the Books column on the right.

  1. I really enjoyed this story. It is in your Four Short Stories ePub (and my favourite from the four). I'm glad Sherwin did some art about it - it reminded me that I should read it again.
